One of the most beautiful ideas we've embraced this year is of creating space for mindful "slowness." Part of it has been to weave some concepts of Slow Food in to our daily lives -- the awareness of the sheer pleasure of food, using fresh homemade products, produced in a way that respects both the environment and the producers. The food is good, clean, and fair, which means it's flavoursome, and cultivated without harming one's health or the environment. It's the understanding that eating is an experience that involves all our senses, stories and cultures, and that it is our responsibility to keep these culinary traditions alive, while respecting the seasons and natural rhythms of the plants and the planet. We're now growing some of our own veggies (the ones is the pic too) and most of our herbs. They are all for personal consumption, but there are plenty of plates to go around for all our tribe :) Just no phones or devices allowed during meal times!
