Mood Food : Banana Power

Updated: Sep 18, 2019

Bananas are a great “mood food.” They help your brain produce chemicals that promote happiness and good mental health. The burst of vitamin B-6 and carbs helps in the creation of two vital mood-regulating neurotransmitters -- Serotonin and Dopamine. These are essential for numerous aspects of brain functioning, including preventing depression, and the creation of positive feelings. Another “happy” nutrient in bananas is magnesium, that helps the brain effectively manage stress.

Bananas may also be the perfect "brain food." The high potassium content in bananas helps deliver oxygen to the brain, keeping the mind sharp. This also keeps the neurotransmitters agile, aiding cognitive functions like focus and memory. Meanwhile, the Magnesium in bananas promotes proper electrical activity between the nerve cells in the brain, and helps the brain dispose waste by-products like ammonia. By reducing the brain’s ammonia levels, magnesium improves ones ability to focus. Vitamin B-6 gives a further boost to the banana's power, by preventing age-related cognitive declines in memory. The kicker being that bananas may help prevent neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer's, and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Go grab a bunch of bananas. They're affordable, easily available, and really versatile. Choose from one of the many varieties in India, like the Giant Governer Dwarf Cavendish, Robusta, Monthan, Poovan,  Nendran, Red Banana, Nyali, Safed Velchi, Basrai, Ardhapuri, Rasthali, Karpurvalli, Karthali and Grand Naine, among many others. #bananas #healingwithfood #moodfoods #brainfoods #healinghideaway #bindiyamurgai #counselling #lifecoaching #couplestherapy #digitalwellness #digitalwellness #mindfulness #meditation #nilgiris #retreats #india
